My approach to making music
Not just pretty tunesβ¦discover my process and philosophy to playing the piano.
Art that you can hear
Improvising a song is like painting.
Some of the different βbrush strokesβ and βcoloursβ I use are volume, rhythm, speed, range (low to high), touch (light to heavy), and texture (pedal and amount of notes).
When you combine them to create different effects and pace them throughout a song to build up to a climax, they create a compelling musical painting.
Singing without words
Piano mastery goes beyond playing individual keys.
Itβs about connecting all the notes together to make them sing.
The lyrics inform my choices of how I play each note to best bring out the essence of the song.
Music that lives and breathes
Improvisation is my specialty.
My music is a combination of playing the notes on the page and creating my own interpretation.
Just like a handmade product, the music does not come out exactly the same each time. Each rendition is a distinct piece.
This keeps the sounds fresh, and allows the music to be tailored to your moment.
Piano keys are black and white, but they sound like a million colours.
